I love the idea about blogging about all the amazing (of course, I think so!) things that my kids do! Unfortunately, I have more time to think about doing that blogging than actually doing it! I have long accepted the fact that with two toddlers, there is no way I have time to scrapbook, so I do really want to do a family blog to sort of be our version of an online scrapbook! So, if you see me going backwards some days, that is why! I'm trying to play catchup on my online scrapbook! :)
Since turning one and two, Sydney and Eli have both been bursting with new tricks!!
They have both been to the doctor for well-baby check ups and the statistics are in: Eli weighed 21 pounds, 6 1/2 ounces and was 31 inches tall. This put him in the 25% for weight and the 75% for height. We were shocked--- tall and skinny is not something we'd ever said about this baby!! He is right on track for everything, and even though I feel like he's not got many words-- Mama, Dada, Hey, Bye, Ball, Tickle, and Backpack-- were enough to get the 3-5 the doctor was looking for! Sydney weighed 27 pounds and was 35 inches tall, which put her in the 40 percentile for weight and 50th for height (no changes in percentiles for her!) Both had heads in the 60-70th percentiles-- poor big headed babies! :)
Eli turned one and just exploded with tricks! :) Margo laughs at me for calling them tricks, but hey, they are! During SuperBowl Sunday, when you would say touchdown, he would throw his arms up in the air-- so cute! He knows it's cute too, because when he does it, he has a huge grin on his face! He also learned to play patty-cake, give kisses, clap, give high fives, and play peek-a-boo-- all in the same week! He is the absolute sweetest baby I have ever met! He loves to give big open mouth kisses and give hugs! When you wake him up in the morning, he just jumps up and down and smiles like he's so happy to see you!!
Sydney has amazed me how smart she is over the last couple of months. I wish I had kept a month-by-month record of her vocabulary, because it is amazing at the words this child knows! She is speaking in sentence/conversations now, and it is so funny the things that come out of her mouth! Yesterday, she held Eli around his neck (hugging him, I promise!) and said "My love you Baby Brother!" Soooo sweet! Of course, this was right after telling me "No hold Eli. He's too heavy. Put on floor." She's definitely not as sweet as Eli, but she certainly is precious and equally loved! She's a girl who "knows what she wants!" and at two, that's a little scary! :) I swear the child has learned everything she knows from a DVD. She watched Blue's Clues Shape Searches, and now not only can she identify a circle, square, and triangle, (that would have been impressive, but not amazing!), but she can also point out an oval, a star, a "part" (heart), and rectangle! She's very into trying to draw these things. Her favorite things to draw are circles, triangles, and "silly faces"! She has also really started using words like "Yesterday, Tomorrow, First, and Later" correctly!
Although I miss the days of having a BABY to snuggle and love, these two are so much fun. It is so neat to watch them learn and do something new almost every day! It is also nice to feel safe to take a shower without having to have them tied into something (crib, high chair, etc!) Life is s l o w l y getting a little easier! My plans are to update this way more frequently, so hopefully it won't be so "look what my kids have done in the last 4 months ish" !
