When people hear that I have two babies less than thirteen months apart, they most always 1) look at me like I'm crazy and 2) ask if we planned it that way. Well, 1) we are! and 2) of course we didn't! But, we do have so much fun!
Life with two babies/toddlers so close in age definitely has its perks. I have decided to focus on those, or else I might lose my mind!! :)
My most favorite part has been watching these two fall in love. It's so neat to think that they will never remember life without each other! Even as a newborn, Eli always had to know where Sydney was. He would lay on his back with his head arched backwards so he could see her at all times. He even started crawling this way. (We even asked the pediatrician if this was normal... he said yes-- lol!) Now that he's bigger, he's copying every sound she makes, gives her lots of kisses, and always wants to be in the same room as her.
Even though Sydney might very well be the reason Eli becomes a tough football player later in life she's beat him up so much, she has adored him since day one. At first, she just gave him lots of kisses and pointed out all his parts-- eyes, ears, mouth, etc. She is also responsible for calling the baby with three letters in his name only two of them-- "EI," which, bless his heart, is what most of his family calls him as a result! She makes sure he always has a paci in his mouth, except when she decides it'd be better off in hers! She can't stand to hear him cry. On the few occasions I decided he should cry it out, she runs to his door and says "Ei's crying! Needs paci!" She became quite the pain when she learned to open his door, and would run in saying "It's ok, Ei! It's ok!" This is the same thing you could hear her saying from her crib if he wakes up crying in the morning. It's so sweet! Once he started taking steps, she would stand in front of him and hold her arms out saying "Walka to Sydney, Eli!" and get so excited when he would.
I am sure there are going to be times when they absolutely drive each other nuts (they already do some days, but remember, I'm focusing on the good parts of having them so close together!!), but it is defnitely my prayer that they will be best friends forever. It has been so much fun watching the two of them fall in love, and I can't wait to spend my days watching them experience each stage of life... together!
